How often should commercial premises be cleaned?
A guide to choosing daily, weekly and periodic cleaning based on office occupancy and common-area traffic.
Start with usage rather than a fixed formula
Choose frequency area by area. Traffic, observed dirt, washrooms and management expectations guide the program. Review a proposed schedule after observing the property; it is not a universal standard for every building.
Frequent tasks and periodic tasks
Entrances, washrooms and shared kitchens may need more frequent attention than interior glass or lightly used areas. Separate visit-by-visit tasks from deeper work. List the area, action and frequency so the schedule can be checked.
Review the schedule when conditions change
Moves, higher occupancy, renovation work or tracked-in winter dirt can change priorities. Report changes to the program contact and review areas that no longer meet expectations. Adjust agreed tasks before adding visits without a clear purpose.
Review results using practical checks
At a review, compare the task list with observations by area. Distinguish missed tasks, blocked access and new dirt appearing after a visit. This helps determine whether frequency, method or access arrangements need to change.
From the scope to its follow-up
Confirm the areas, constraints, responsibilities and reporting arrangements in the proposal.
