A fitness facility has several distinct uses

A training floor, reception desk and change room need different methods. Closely spaced equipment also restricts access. The assessment should identify materials, wet areas and when each space can be cleared. The plan covers agreed surfaces; it does not replace staff cleaning tasks between users.

Areas to include in the plan

Check product compatibility with flooring and manufacturer guidance. Where disinfection forms part of the scope, specify the surface, product and contact time.

• Studio floors and passages between equipment
• Reception, handles and frequently touched surfaces
• Change rooms, washrooms and showers where included
• Accessible mirrors and interior glass

Coordinate cleaning with classes

Class schedules show available windows, but members also arrive before sessions. Allow enough time to clean and dry flooring. Equipment stays in place unless an authorized movement procedure exists. Specify how to report damaged equipment or inaccessible areas without unnecessarily interrupting activity.

Is exercise equipment cleaning included?

Define this by equipment or surface type. Electronic controls, upholstery and mechanical parts have different restrictions. Exercise-equipment servicing and dismantling are not the same as cleaning the premises. Staff responsibilities and KLEEN’s scope are confirmed before starting.

How should cleaning frequency be set?

Consider member numbers, opening hours, classes and shower use. An appointment-based studio and a large gym need different plans. Track observations by zone to adjust tasks rather than applying one frequency to every facility.
